Vol. 510 No. 6

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

John Perry

Question:

269 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Health and Children the plans, if any, he has to appoint a full-time neurologist for Sligo General Hospital to facilitate the needs of the people in the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23505/99]

The provision of neurology services for patients in the North-Western Health Board area is a matter for the North-Western Health Board in the first instance. The board is currently considering a number of possible service options in relation to the enhancement of the board's services for those who require consultant neurologist expertise. These options are being actively considered by the board at present and I will consider proposals from the board in the context of available funding.
