Vol. 510 No. 6

Written Answers. - Dublin Traffic Management.

Ivor Callely

Question:

281 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the terms of reference given to consultants in connection with tolling of vehicles coming into Dublin city; the negative aspects of the tolling; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23272/99]

In the context of the mid-term review of the current community support framework, it was agreed at the request of the European Commission that a study of road pricing and related issues should be carried out with reference to the Dublin area. This study, which was conducted by a consortium of consultants led by Oscar Faber Group was published in 5 October 1999. The terms of reference for the study are contained in the report of the study, which is available in the Oireachtas Library. The Dublin Transportation Office has been asked to consider the report, in the context of the wider update of the DTI strategy now being finalised by the DTO.
