39 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the steps, if any, she will take to establish a music board jointly with the industry in view of the commitment contained in the review of An Action Programme for the Millennium; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I am pleased to inform the Deputy that agreement in principle has been reached with the music industry, under the auspices of IBEC, to jointly establish a music board to promote the industry. The board will be set up initially on an ad hoc basis and will be funded equally by the music industry and my Department. A joint IBEC and departmental working group has been established to work on the detail of the proposed arrangements and I intend to bring proposals to Government in the near future.
