315 Ms Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 6 who has been back at college since 23 September 1999 has not received the first instalment of a mature student's grant; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26059/99]
I understand the student to whom the Deputy refers applied to Dublin Corporation at the end of July 1999 for a maintenance grant in respect of the 1998-99 academic year and for the current year. The student was awarded a full maintenance grant at the adjacent rate for the 1998-99 academic year and a full maintenance grant at the non-adjacent rate for the academic year 1999-2000 in line with the improvements I introduced for mature candidates. The first instalment of the student's grant for the 1999-2000 academic year and the retrospective payment for the academic year 1998-99 issued from Dublin Corporation on 23 November 1999.
