Vol. 512 No. 6

Written Answers. - Housing Grants.

Liam Aylward

Question:

313 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if a person is entitled to a new house grant where an old building is acquired and replaced by new apart ments and where the purchaser is a first-time home buyer. [26988/99]

Where an old building is acquired and demolished and new apartments built on the site, first-time purchasers would be entitled to a new house grant provided the other grant conditions are met. However, a new house grant is not allowable if an apartment is not newly built but forms part of an existing building which has been converted to accommodation units.
