Vol. 512 No. 6

Written Answers. - Visa Applications.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

340 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will review the decision to refuse entry to a Russian national (details supplied) and allow her enter in order to be with her daughter for Christmas; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26766/99]

Having reviewed the application, I am prepared to grant a visit visa for a maximum stay of 90 days, which is the normal validity for such a visa. A similar visa was issued to the person in question last year but it would appear that she remained in the State for a further 90 days, in breach of the conditions of her permission to enter. The applicant will be expected to comply with the conditions of the visa on this occasion. The applicant will also be expected to provide evidence of medical insurance to the Irish Embassy in Moscow, as is standard practice, before the visa will be issued.
