Written Answers. - Coastal Protection.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

124 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if his attention has been drawn to the serious concerns regarding the rate of erosion at Ardamine beach, County Wexford; if specific funding to remedy this situation will be provided by his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2485/00]

My Department has received from Wexford County Council a consultant's report on coastal protection problems at a number of locations in County Wexford, including Ardamine beach. The options and funding needs for coast protection works at Ardamine will be assessed in the context of the multiannual coastal protection programme which will be informed by evaluations of strategic coastal protection priorities costings and funding available.
