Vol. 513 No. 6

Written Answers. - Museum Projects.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

333 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will give details on the provision of a new county museum in Clonmel, County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3033/00]

The provision of a museum is entirely a matter for the local authority concerned.

However, I understand that Tipperary S.R. County Council is providing a county museum in Clonmel which is scheduled for official opening in May, 2000. The project is being funded from its own resources and with financial assistance from the Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands under the cultural development incentive scheme – CDIS. I understand also that Clonmel Corporation has made a financial contribution to the project.
