Vol. 515 No. 6

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Tony Gregory

Question:

143 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Finance the timescale for the refurbishment of Ballyfermot Garda station, Dublin 10; and the works to be carried out. [6556/00]

A contract has been placed for the provision of temporary accommodation at Ballyfermot Garda station and this work will be completed by end of April 2000. The gardaí will then occupy this accommodation permitting the main redevelopment work to commence immediately thereafter. The existing Garda station comprises a single storey block facing onto Rossmore Avenue with two rear wings. The redevelopment work comprises the construction of a new floor on top of the front block and the complete refurbishment of the ground floor. A new public entrance onto Rossmore Avenue will be formed. Additional out-buildings to the rear of the site will be provided and the car parking facilities and landscaping will be upgraded. The main redevelopment works are due to start at the beginning of May 2000 and the contract period is one year.
