Vol. 516 No. 5

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Denis Naughten

Question:

219 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he will approve plans submitted to his Department for the installation of a new sewerage scheme in Ballyleague, County Roscommon; when he will approve the funding; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8502/00]

A revised brief for the expansion of the existing Ballyleague sewage treatment works was received in my Department in 1997 but has not been approved. The scheme is second on the list of sewerage schemes submitted by Roscommon County Council in response to my Department's request to local authorities to undertake fresh assessments of the needs for capital works in their areas and to prioritise their proposals on the basis of the assessments. The priority lists will be taken into account in the framing of water services investment programmes for this and future years under the National Development Plan 2000-2006.

220 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will approve a plan submitted by Roscommon County Council for an extension of the Monksland sewerage scheme to Bealnamullin national school; when a decision will be made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8504/00]

A proposal to extend the Monksland sewerage scheme to include the Bealnamullin area was received in my Department earlier this month and is under consideration.
