33 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the position regarding the establishment of an independent appeals system to deal with farmers grievances over decisions made in relation to their applications to participate in various EU schemes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have already indicated my intention to establish an independent appeals system on a statutory basis. The preparation of the general scheme of the bill is at an advanced stage and I intend to submit the proposal to Government shortly.
