Vol. 518 No. 5

Written Answers. - Food Safety.

Question:

136 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of prosecutions which have been taken in 1999 and 2000 for breaches of the food hygiene regulations; the number of inspections of food premises carried out; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12285/00]

The information requested by the Deputy falls within the remit of the Food Safety Authority of Ireland which has statutory responsibility for this issue. I have, therefore, asked the FSAI to collate the information sought and to reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
