Vol. 518 No. 5

Written Answers. - Community Counselling Service.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

150 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children further to Parliamentary Question No. 82 of 10 February 2000, the reason an organisation (details supplied) in Dublin 8 has had no contact from the chief executive of the Eastern Health Board; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12313/00]

As I stated previously in my reply to the Deputy this is a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority. The new procedures and policy statement in relation to the criteria governing the funding of voluntary counselling services have been agreed and circulated to all community care areas. I understand that each area was instructed to forward a copy of the policy statement and an application form for funding to the counselling services in their areas.

I have referred this matter to the chief executive officer of the Eastern Regional Health Authority and have asked him to ensure that the relevant information is forwarded immediately to the organisation concerned.
