Vol. 518 No. 6

Written Answers. - Product Evaluations.

John McGuinness

Question:

197 Mr. J. McGuinness asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason for the delay in approving a product (details supplied) in view of the fact it was submitted for approval to Abbotstown, Castleknock, Dublin 15 and if he can expedite approval. [12401/00]

The regulatory system for plant protection products requires that all products must be approved prior to being placed on the market. A large number of products are awaiting evaluation and applications are being dealt with in date order. An assessment of the product in question is likely to be completed by the end of the year.
