130 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science the situation regarding the provision of a new primary school (details supplied) in County Cork. [14031/00]

As I indicated in a reply to a parliamentary question on 11 April 2000, an application from the school in question is being dealt with as quickly as possible by my Department having regard to the large number of school building projects on hand within my Department.

Tenders have recently been invited for the provision of ancillary accommodation as requested by the school in question.

My Department's planning and building unit recently issued approval to County Cork VEC to accept a tender for the construction of a 1,589mf7>2 extension to the school referred to by the Deputy.

The contractor has now commenced construction on site and the contract period is nine months.
