Vol. 521 No. 4

Written Answers. - Trivax Vaccine.

Denis Naughten

Question:

40 Mr. Naughten asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment when the Trivax vaccine was first patented; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [17560/00]

To ascertain whether the Trivax vaccine was patented in Ireland it would be necessary for the Patents Office to have information concerning the chemical composition of the vaccine. It is not possible to trace any patent application on the basis of the information supplied by the Deputy. If Deputy Naughten supplies additional information about the chemical composition of the vaccine, I will have the matter investigated by my officials in the Patents Office and will communicate accordingly with the Deputy.
