Vol. 522 No. 2

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

John McGuinness

Question:

274 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason for the delay in making a bed available to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny at the special alzheimers unit, Thomastown, County Kilkenny, in view of the urgency attached to her case by her general practitioner and those assessing the case; his views on the waiting list for this unit; and the steps that are to be taken to reduce and eliminate the list. [18384/00]

The provision of health services in the Kilkenny area is a matter for the South Eastern Health Board. I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to examine this case and respond to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
