89 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the number of milk quota lease transactions exempted from clawback by ministerial discretion from June 1997 to 1 April 2000; the circumstances in each case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18589/00]
There were approximately 60 land and quota transactions exempted from the clawback measure in the period in question. The circumstances which gave rise to the exemption related to research and transactions by charitable institutions, ill health, death, animal disease and default by the lessee in the case of a lease approved under the farm retirement scheme.
