102 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of houses authorised for the building programme of each local authority for each of the years 1995 to 1999; the amount this represents in funding; the number of houses actually built by each local authority for these years; the percentage of funding that was used; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20984/00]
The number of authorised starts in the local authority housing construction and acquisition programme for each of the years 1995 to 1999 is set out in table 1. The number of dwellings completed or acquired by local authorities for each of the years 1995 to 1999 is published in my Department's annual housing statistics bulletin, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library. The total amount for capital expenditure on this programme, which is funded by a combination of Exchequer capital grants and internal capital receipts, for each local authority for the same period is set out in table 2. Aggregate spending on the programme in each of these years as a percentage of the provision originally made in the Department's Estimates was 96% in 1995, 103% in 1996, 102% in 1997, 94% in 1998 and 111% in 1999.
