Vol. 523 No. 4

Written Answers. - Bovine Diseases.

Michael Ring

Question:

99 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the plans he has to re-introduce the 30 day test to assist in the eradication of tuberculosis; and if the Government rather than the farmer will bear the costs of the test if introduced. [21451/00]

The Programme for Prosperity and Fairness, provides, inter alia, that additional measures relating to movement controls will be considered as part of the new four year disease eradication programme which includes among its objectives the reduction in the incidence of TB by 50%. Discussions on these measures and the other aspects of the new on-farm market valuation system are continuing with the farming organisations in the context of the animal health forum.
