Vol. 524 No. 4

Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

92 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) in County Galway has not been paid a full REPS payment and a particular portion of his land for which he has absolute proof of ownership has not been included in the overall payment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22754/00]

The position is that for additional land to be eligible for payment under the rural environment protection scheme, it must be leased, inherited or purchased subsequent to acceptance into the scheme. In this case the land in question has always been in the possession of the applicant and is not, therefore, additional land under the terms and conditions of the scheme and is not eligible for payment.
