Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Remedial Drainage Works.

Beverley Flynn

Question:

391 Ms Cooper-Flynn asked the Minister for Finance if help can be given to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo whose land is part of the Moy drainage scheme in order to prevent land slippage. [24352/00]

The land of the person in question runs along the right bank of a scheduled channel of the Moy catchment drainage scheme.

An examination of the area by the Office of Public Works engineer has ascertained that five metres of a loose stone wall recently fell into the channel. There is no immediate prospect of the situation worsening nor is there any significant obstruction to the flow of water.

Due to current high water levels and poor ground conditions, work would not be feasible here at this time of year. It is the intention of the Office of Public Works to carry out any remedial work considered necessary next summer.
