Written Answers. - Architectural Heritage.

Ivor Callely

Question:

331 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the proposals under consideration by her Department for works to be carried out to the Casino, Marino, Dublin 3; the costs associated with these works; the time schedule for work to be completed; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [25436/00]

Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands (Miss de Valera)

The Office of Public Works on behalf of my Department is at present carrying out an internal upgrade of the Casino which involves minor electrical works, furnishing and fittings. Proposals are being drawn up and a brief is being developed for the completion of external works at the Casino, including gates and the provision of a new guide reception point and accommodation of a watchman. It is not possible to give an estimate of costs of the works at this stage. Subject to receipt of planning approval etc. it is proposed to have tenders invited for the works towards the end of 2001-early 2002 and to have the bulk of works undertaken during 2002.
