370 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the grant aid available from his Department for the swimming pool development at Athlone, County Westmeath; the progress to date on this project; when he expects this project will be completed; and the projected total cost. Grants totalling £3 million have been allocated to the Athlone regional sports centre under the sports capital programme operated by my Department. The centre includes a 25 metre swimming pool. Building works are ongoing and to date the project has advanced to roof stage. To date, my Department has paid £1.222 million out of the £3 million allocated. The project is due for completion in May 2001 and the projected total cost is £5.5 million.
