Vol. 528 No. 1

Written Answers. - Regional Road Network.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

263 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will provide the necessary funding to complete the inner Listowel relief road, County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29288/00]

In 2000, Listowel UDC was allocated £300,000 under the EU co-financed specific improvement grants scheme in respect of the Listowel relief road.

My Department has sought applications from local authorities for funding under this scheme in 2001. An application seeking a continuation of funding for Listowel inner relief road was received in my Department yesterday. All applications received will be considered in the Department, having regard to their compliance with the eligibility criteria, the need to prioritise projects, competing demands from other local authorities and the funds available for the scheme in 2001.

I will announce non-national road grant allo cations for 2001, including the allocations under the specific improvement grants scheme, early next year.
