566 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children if a person (details supplied) in County Mayo could receive his treatment in Cappagh Hospital, Dublin 11, thus avoiding a second journey of 220 miles for this elderly person at the time of his assessment appointment. [1233/01]

As the provision of medical services in this instance falls within the responsibility of the Eastern Regional Health Authority, my Department has asked the regional chief executive officer of the authority to investigate the position in relation to this case and reply to the Deputy directly.
