Question:

1128 Mr. D'Arcy asked the Minister for Education and Science when the extension will be built at Bridgetown vocational college, County Wexford. [30486/00]

The proposed extension to Bridgetown vocational school, County Wexford is currently in planning. The building unit of my Department recently wrote to County Wexford VEC authorising it to instruct its design team to proceed to stage 4 (detailed design) of my Department's design team procedures subject to a number of technical requirements identified at Stage 3 being incorporated into the plans. On receipt of the fully complete stage 4 submission the matter will receive further attention.

Question:

1129 Mr. D'Arcy asked the Minister for Education and Science when extensions will be built at Craanford national school, Gorey, County Wexford. [30487/00]

Architectural planning for the project in question is proceeding. The Deputy will appreciate, however, that the rate of progress to construction of a project depends on factors such as the complexity and size of the project, the time required to undertake architectural planning, the volume of other projects being dealt with by the design team and my Department's building unit, the period of time required for the granting of planning permission and obtaining a fire certificate, the outcome of the tender competition and the procurement, where relevant, of bonds, insurance and tax clearance by prospective contractors.

Consequently, it is not possible to say, at this point, when construction will commence. The school authorities will be kept informed of developments.

Question No. 1130 answered with Question No. 1125.
