Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Seán Haughey

Question:

1326 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the fact that a school (details supplied) in Dublin 17 has been closed due to repair works being undertaken to the heating system; if the necessary funding has been made available for this repair work; if the works could have been carried out during the summer holidays of 2000; when the school will re-open; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2597/01]

The emergency heating repairs commenced at the school in question after Christmas and have now been completed. The school could not have continued in operation until June 2001 if these works had not been undertaken.

It is planned to carry out more extensive refur bishment works to the heating system during the summer holidays this year. Funding at the rate of 95% towards the cost of these works is being provided by my Department.
