Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

112 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if the criteria laid down for the provision of national car test centres are being followed in east Donegal when there is no such centre for Inishowen and a significant proportion of the population must drive in excess of 30 miles to the nearest centre; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Question:

113 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government his views on whether there is a level of discrimination against a large proportion of people in County Donegal who are not being offered the service of a mobile car testing unit; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3438/01]

I propose to answer Questions Nos. 112 and 113 together.

The general position remains as stated in reply to Question No. 685 of 3 October 2000.

In addition, the National Car Testing Service Limited is now in discussion with Donegal County Council regarding the identification of a suitable location for a mobile test centre to serve the Inishowen Peninsula.
