Vol. 530 No. 2

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

110 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position in relation to a sewerage scheme (details supplied) in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3434/01]

A revised preliminary report for phase 5 of the Buncrana sewerage scheme, which includes Aghilly, was received in my Department in 1993 but has not been approved. The scheme was included in the list of water and sewerage schemes submitted by Donegal County Council in response to my Department's request to local authorities to undertake a fresh assessment of the needs for capital works in their areas and to prioritise their proposals on the basis of the assessments. However, because of the level of competing demand and the need to prioritise individual proposals on a national basis, it was not possible to include all schemes proposed by local authorities in the Water Services Investment Programme 2000-02 announced last July.

Question:

111 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will consider increasing the grant level of the group sewerage scheme to the level of the group water scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3436/01]

The examination of group sewerage scheme grants by the National Rural Water Monitoring Committee is ongoing and I will consider the matter further as soon as the committee's report is to hand.
