Vol. 530 No. 3

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

161 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Kildare will be called for surgery to Beaumont Hospital, Beaumont, Dublin 9; the reason for the lack of response from the Eastern Regional Health Authority since this matter was brought to his attention in December 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3607/01]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Kildare is the statutory responsibility of the Eastern Regional Health Authority. I have had further inquiries made of the ERHA in this matter and have been advised that Beaumont Hospital called the patient concerned for admission for surgery in October 1999, but this date did not apparently suit her.

The hospital has indicated that the patient's records will be reviewed by the consultant concerned with a view to rescheduling the surgery as soon as possible. I have asked the regional chief executive of the authority to revert to the Deputy when a date for surgery has been confirmed.
