Michael Ring

Question:

114 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if persons (details supplied) in County Mayo will be able to collect headage payments if they submit a joint REP scheme application rather than two individual applications suggested by his Department. [3657/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 113 and 114 together.

The delay in payment was due to investigations in connection with the application under the REP scheme of the person named in Question No. 113. These investigations indicate that the person named is farming jointly with the other herdowner referred to in Question No. 114. In the circumstances my Department must treat their applications for sheep headage as a joint application. In so far as the new area based compensatory allowance scheme is concerned the herdowners may submit a joint application on their area aid application in 2001. Payment of outstanding sheep headage grants will be made as soon as possible.
