Ivor Callely

Question:

84 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Defence the progress made with regard to enhancing and developing the facilities at St. Bricin's Hospital, Dublin 7; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4063/01]

Representatives of my Department and of the medical corps met senior officials of the Department of Health, the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the Northern Area Health Board on 18 December last. Arising from discussions at that meeting, an informal joint working group was established, comprising representation from the Northern Area Health Board, James Connolly Memorial Hospital, the Mater Hospital and the medical corps. The working group is in the course of formulating detailed proposals for the potential role for facilities at St. Bricin's Hospital in the delivery of a defined portfolio of public health services.
