Question:

85 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the var ious type and levels of fertilisers used in the growth of foodstuffs; if he will give a breakdown and statistics for fertiliser used in 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4282/01]

Details of the rate of use of fertilisers in the production of foodstuffs are not available. Particulars of sales of fertilisers are compiled and these give an indication of usage. The following table shows sales during the 12 months ended 30 September 2000 and corresponding figures for the previous year.
