455 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Education and Science the names of the members of the council of FETEC; when this body will be established; where it will be based; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4941/01]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 454 and 455 together.
The nominations process for membership of the Further Education and Training Awards Council and the Higher Education and Training Awards Council is currently under way.
As the Deputy will be aware, one of the main tasks of the designate National Qualifications Authority of Ireland, which I established last November, is to enter into discussions with the relevant stakeholders in the process to clear the way for me to bring the Qualifications (Education and Training) Act fully into operation. It is envisaged that the two new awarding Councils will be established in the near future.
The location of the two new councils is under consideration.
