Vol. 531 No. 1

Written Answers. - Commonage Framework Plans.

Michael Ring

Question:

42 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands when the preparation of framework documents will be completed and implemented. [1472/01]

The preparation of commonage framework plans is a joint operation of the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development and my Department. Completed framework plans for upland commonages in the six designated degraded counties – Donegal, Galway, Kerry, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo – are expected to be available by April 2001 for incorporation into farm plans. Plans relating to the rest of the country will take some time to complete. However, I anticipate that all will be completed by the end of the year. Implementation of the plans is dependent on receiving approval for my Department's compensation scheme from the EU Commission.
