Question:

104 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the current staffing levels in the Office of the Director of Telecommunications Regulation; the current staff shortages in this office; the measures being taken to recruit staff; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [8732/01]

In accordance with the provisions of the Telecommunications (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1996, the Director of Telecommunications Regulation may, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, determine the number of staff to be appointed to her office. The director has full freedom to recruit staff for her office. I have no function in the matter.
