108 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if her attention has been drawn to any studies that have been carried out regarding hybrid buses, that is urban buses with diesel elec tric power systems; her views in this regard; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9077/01]

I understand that hybrid vehicles are still at the developmental stage in Europe and that a considerable number of trials have taken place. Bus Átha Cliath have been keeping abreast of trends. At present capital costs are prohibitive but the benefits of these vehicles will be kept under review by Bus Átha Cliath.
