Vol. 533 No. 6

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

440 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Education and Science when works in a school (details supplied) in Dublin 12 will be completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9636/01]

In 1998 the building unit of my Department requested the management authority of the school to which the Deputy refers to arrange for the preparation and submission of a detailed report by a consultant engineer on the mechanical and electrical installations at the school. This report with cost estimates is still awaited.

The school's management authority has also sought grant-aid toward the cost of a number of other works at the school. The building unit of my Department informed the school's management authority in 1998 that, subject to a number of clarifications, tenders could be invited for these works. However, there has been no response to date in this matter.

An application for grant aid toward the cost of upgrading physical education facilities at the school is being processed currently.
