Vol. 534 No. 4

Written Answers - Youth Services.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

232 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Education and Science when he will provide funding for County Monaghan youth information service based on its application of November 2000; if his attention has been drawn to the vital and important service it is giving to the area in a county where the highest level of drop-out from the education system exists; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that many students, who do not have access to support services outside of school, use the youth information services in relation to matters of personal development and have found it invaluable; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10954/01]

I am aware of the situation in relation to the County Monaghan youth information service. My Department is at present examining the position in regard to the funding of the project as from 1 May 2001. I expect to be in a position to give a decision in the case shortly.
