Vol. 535 No. 3

Written Answers - Hospital Doctors.

Bernard Allen

Question:

111 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has carried out an investigation of a situation at Cavan General Hospital where junior doctors are about to strike over unacceptable working conditions. [12629/01]

The position in Cavan General Hospital is that on 25 April, 2001, the Irish Medical Organisation sent notification of an intention by its non-consultant hospital doctors in Cavan General Hospital to work to rule from 2 May 2001. A meeting took place on 1 May 2001, between the North-Eastern Health Board and representatives of non-consultant hospital doctors, and the threat of work to rule was lifted.
