Vol. 536 No. 1

Written Answers - School Staffing.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

177 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to an application for a classroom assistant for a school (details supplied) in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13395/01]

I understand that the child in question is attending a recently established special class for children with autism. The class is currently catering for three children and has the support of a teacher and two full-time special needs assistants.

The school has applied for a further special needs assistant to be dedicated to the needs of the child mentioned by the Deputy. This application will be considered by my Department in the context of enrolments in the special class for the forthcoming school year.
