Vol. 536 No. 2

Written Answers - Housing Grants.

Seán Ryan

Question:

335 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the assistance which is available for an unemployed married couple with a young family in urgent need of an indoor toilet and bathroom, especially in view of the age of the children and the family situation. [13766/01]

There are a number of targeted options currently available to assist vulnerable groups, including lower income households, to secure necessary improvements works to their houses. These include the local authority house improvement loan scheme, the disabled persons grant scheme and the improvement works in lieu of local authority housing scheme. The couple concerned should contact their local authority to discuss their housing situation.
