Question:

438 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to having a lap top computer supplied for a person (details supplied) in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13615/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 435 and 438 together.

My Department has sanctioned resource teaching support to the school referred to by the Deputy to cater for the pupil in question. As in all such cases, the level of resource teacher support provided was based on the assessed needs of the child. An application for computer equipment for the child in question is currently being considered by my Department's inspectorate. On receipt of the inspectorate's report, my Department will be in touch with the school authorities in relation to this matter.
