Vol. 536 No. 5

Written Answers. - Roads Projects.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

278 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will provide the necessary funding to enable the relief road at Listowel, County Kerry to be completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14720/01]

My Department has allocated a provision of £200,000 to Listowel UDC in 2001 for the Listowel inner relief road, phase 3, under the EU co-financed specific improvement scheme of grants. This is in addition to last year's allocation of £300,000 for the project. My Department has agreed with the council an overall cost of £600,000 for the project, and the balance of this financing will be available in 2002 subject to an appropriate application from Listowel UDC.
