Vol. 537 No. 2

Written Answers. - Tax Allowances.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

180 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Finance if he will set out the income tax position of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12. [15521/01]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes has no record of the taxpayer. The taxpayer has been sent a copy of (i) form 12A – application for a certificate of tax credits and standard rate cut-off point and (ii) the revenue information leaflet IT 67 – a guide for first time entrants to the PAYE tax system, copies of which have been forwarded for the Deputy's information. It appears from the letter attached to the Deputy's question that the taxpayer's employer has been operating emergency tax on the taxpayer's earnings as employers must do where an employee does not have a certificate of tax credits and standard rate cut-off point.

Question No. 181 withdrawn.
