259 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a slaughter premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Meath; if he will confirm that his Department is aware that the cattle have been slaughtered and that the tags have been forwarded to the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development; and if he will make a statement on the reason for the delay. Four animals bearing tag numbers 182085210072, 182085250084, 182090450082 and 28123570031 were slaughtered by the person named on 23 July 2001. The slaughter premium section is currently processing for payment animals slaughtered during the period 1 January to 30 June. Payment on animals found eligible for this period will issue when payments commence this month. With regard to animals slaughtered in July, processing will commence in November and payments will issue shortly thereafter.
