Vol. 541 No. 4

Written Answers. - Paediatric Services.

Bernard Allen

Question:

295 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he plans to provide a paediatric MRI scanner. [22831/01]

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that an MRI scanner was recently commissioned at the Children's Hospital, Temple Street, Dublin. This new facility will further enhance existing diagnostic services for children. I am aware, also, that the Eastern Regional Health Authority is examining the need for additional MRI facilities in the region. This examination will include a particular focus on the need for any additional MRI facilities in specialist paediatric hospitals.
