Vol. 542 No. 2

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

John McGuinness

Question:

290 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will investigate the circumstances of the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; the reason this person did not receive the operation he required as a public patient but was attended to as an urgent case as a private patient; and if the cost of the operation will be borne by his Department. [23813/01]

The Deputy will appreciate that the provision of services is a matter for the South Eastern Health Board in the first instance. I have, therefore, asked the chief executive officer at the board to look into the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
