Vol. 542 No. 2

Written Answers. - Hospital Doctors.

Bernard Allen

Question:

348 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he or his Department officials have met IMO representatives of non-EU doctors regarding the temporary registration and specialist register in the context of the new Medical Practitioners (Amendment) Bill, 2000. [24303/01]

Officials of my Department recently met a large IMO delegation representing non-EU doctors who are working in the Irish health service. A broad range of concerns were raised by the delegation and were discussed at the meeting. Among the issues raised were temporary registration and the specialist register. These issues, and others which were raised at the meeting, are under active consideration by my Department.
